Planar patch-clamp

Adhesion force measurements on cells requires immobilization of the interacting partners to the substrayte and to the force sensor respectively. In a collaboration with nan]i[on, the planar patch-clamp technology turned out to be a perfect platform for AFM experiments with non-adherent cells. The ion conductance of the cell membrane additional becomes accessible with this setup. The complex reaction of a cell to an external stimulus now can be recorded simultaneously with respect to force and to conductance.
